Complexity to Simplicity: The Power of the Question

Published on 22 February 2025 at 15:58

We all face moments when we call for help—times when we feel trapped, either by our own doing or by the circumstances we've found ourselves in...

These moments can leave us feeling powerless, searching for a way forward. This is why it is essential to study and understand the various powers and forces that shape our experiences, both externally and internally. To accept these relationships is to grow. To grow is to hone the tools that allow us to transform the self into oneself.  As you just read, these powers and forces are deeply intertwined. But don’t be overwhelmed by the idea of mastering each one separately. Instead, build awareness. The right tool will reveal itself when the moment calls for it. No need to force it—that would defeat the purpose.

The Power of the Question: Flipping "SOS" to "SO?"

When we find ourselves overwhelmed by the Force of a Circumstance, our natural reaction is to call for help—"SOS." It’s a plea for the world, for God, for something outside of us to intervene.

But what if we shift our perspective?

Flip the last "S" in "SOS," and what do you get?

question mark (?).

This simple shift reveals the Power of the Question—one of the strongest forces we have in our quest to know ourselves, challenge our ego, and break free from limiting narratives. And the most powerful question of them all?

"SO?"

Whenever we face a difficult circumstance, we instinctively find excuses to justify our situation, to defend our narrative. But if you have the courage to sit with discomfort and trust the process, you will realize that questioning with "SO?" dismantles every justification.

Each time you answer, respond with another question. "So?"

Repeat the process. Again. And again.

Eventually, you’ll be left with no reasons to remain stuck. You’ll arrive at a revelation—either you come to terms with the situation, accept it, and move forward, or you recognize your power to change it and take action. Approach this with humility, courage, and trust. What cannot be changed must be accepted. What can be changed must be acted upon.

The Power of Intention: From Awareness to Action

Once you complete this process, you will come to realize something powerful—you now possess a sense of control. You have practiced and strengthened your ability to respond, rather than react.

And remember: Regardless of what you do, you are always acting.

  • Indecision is a decision.

  • Inaction is an action of doing nothing.

So, when you feel stuck, remember this: change your perspective, question your excuses, and give yourself permission to accept or act.  Because "Where your mind goes, everything follows."

So I ask you—What is stopping you?

And then I follow up—"SO?"
